12 Hour Childcare First Aid Course

Meeting the requirements of First Aid provision set by the Government in the Early Years Foundation Stage

We are offering this 12 hour Paediatric First Aid course teaches you essential First Aid and CPR skills for the care of infants and children. The 2 day Childcare course is currently scheduled to be held in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. It is recommended for those professionals involved in the care of children, such as Nannies, Childminders, Nursery Nurses/assistants and schools.

Sometimes also referred to as ’Childcare in early years settings’.

As well as following a substantial syllabus of infant/child First Aid skills, you will also be taught some essential adult care skills where they differ to those appropriate to child and infant care, giving you a good all round knowledge.

Course contents includes:

Introduction
Scene assessment
Barrier use
1 person CPR
Choking management
Shock management
Spinal injury management 
Secondary  assesment
Asthma
Allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
Poisoning
Diabetes
Febrile convulsions
Sickle cell anaemia
Head injury
Fractures and dislocations
Management of burns and scalds
Hypo/hyper thermia
First aid boxes and accident reporting

The 12 Hour Paediatric Childcare First Aid course will include instructor led theory sessions, together with video examples and hands on practical sessions using child/infant mannequins.

You will be able to learn these skills in a relaxed, low stress environment, designed to promote confidence and upon successful completion of the course a certificate will be issued.
This 12 hour Childcare First Aid Course is recognised by all the above bodies, and is valid for three years.
